I earned a degree in theatre design and have loved creating art since childhood. I worked for several years at a New York City based entertainment design magazine before switching careers to teach middle school English. I spent some time collecting and restoring vintage fashion dolls and published a book on the subject in 2001. I am a practicing Buddhist and try to include many of these ideals and symbols into my jewelry work. I am the mother of amazing twin girls whose creative passion is performing. My diverse life choices and my family give me inspiration to create every day.
I have been designing one-of-a-kind jewelry for almost 20 years and selling my creations at festivals and on Etsy. I love making something new and interesting out of something old and forgotten. My collection is constructed from original photographs, vintage bits, metal, clothing, and various found and reclaimed odds and ends. I scour flea markets throughout the country to find unusual items that need a fresh start. I take the original found item and alter it to give it a new life. My collection is a careful mix of collage art and metalwork using a variety of ideas that make each piece one of a kind. My goal in producing my collection each year is to use as few new materials as possible and concentrate my efforts on reinventing each item so it can become an heirloom to its new owner.
