After graduating college as an art major, Joan was determined to make her living in the arts. In the early 1990s, she developed a Keith Haring-like silver wire man and woman that became popular in hand-crafted stores. “Joan of Art, Designs” was born!! Later, she took metal classes at Rowan College under the guidance of Benjamin Gilliam. She realized that she liked the medium of metal better than oils. The change in direction was meant to be. As time goes by, her jewelry has become increasingly one of a kind.  All aspects of her jewelry are made by hand. The goal has become to make engaging works of art that one can wear and feel special. She just recently won first place in fine crafts at the Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festival.
